Terms & conditions


  1. FIRST SCENE LTD agrees to lease the property described in the invoice/contract to the HIRER on the following terms and conditions.
  2. The HIRER acknowledges that in any case of default of these terms and conditions FIRST SCENE LTD may require the services of a debt collection agency at the HIRERs cost.
  3. The property that the HIRER takes possession of, as detailed in the invoice/contract, is owned by FIRST SCENE LTD.
  4. The HIRER has examined the property and acknowledges that the property is received in good condition and is safe and suitable for its intended use.
  5. FIRST SCENE LTD will not be liable in any way in respect of any claim made against the HIRER for any damage caused by the HIRERS use of the property.
  6. FIRST SCENE LTD will not be liable to the HIRER or any third party for any damage or loss resulting from any defect, failure or breakdown in the property from any cause. Such cause presumes an absence of any negligence on the part of FIRST SCENE LTD.
  7. All FIRST SCENE LTD hire props are considered Theatrical Props Only and are to be used only for display purposes.
  8. The HIRER agrees to return the property to FIRST SCENE LTD in the same condition as received, fair wear and tear accepted, on the return date detailed in the invoice/contract. Unless the invoice/contract is amended to state otherwise the HIRER will return the property to FIRST SCENE LTD at its premises noted in the invoice/contract. FIRST SCENE reserves the right to demand immediate return of the property on any breach of these terms and conditions. FIRST SCENE reserves the right to charge additional hire time if the property is not returned by the specified date.
  9. The HIRER agrees not to use the property in violation of any law, statute or regulation. The laws of New Zealand apply.
  10. If the property is retained beyond the return date, without the express written permission of FIRST SCENE LTD, the HIRER renders him or herself liable to arrest for conversion or theft. FIRST SCENE LTD reserves the right to sue for breach of the bailment conditions set out in the invoice/contract.
  11. The HIRER agrees to pay FIRST SCENE LTD the fee, and deposit if that applies, by the due date set out in the invoice/contract.
  12. The HIRER agrees that he or she will retain possession and control of the property throughout the period of hire.
  13. The HIRER agrees that he or she is liable to FIRST SCENE LTD for any loss of the property, or part of the property, and may be required to meet the replacement cost of the property.
  14. Photo Identification is required for all hires.
  15. FIRST SCENE LTD reserves the right to retain all or part of a deposit on a cancelled booking.
